"Deep Dark Dive" – A Journey into the Abyss

Dimensions: 60 x 40 cm, Year: 2024, Medium: Oil on Paper,  sold

Deep Dark Dive is part of a triptych that captures the emotional state of being submerged deep underwater at twilight, where the last rays of sunlight fade into the darkness. The painting evokes a sense of quiet isolation, as the waves become darker and the sand stirs up from the ocean floor. There’s a murky yet vibrant energy in the composition, where the in-between creatures of the sea — like the anemone — dance gently between day and night in the sand’s dim light.

The anemone, illuminated by bursts of color, appears almost like a creature from a different world, an otherworldly being dwelling in this twilight realm. Its fluid movements create a soft, undulating atmosphere, as if it were part of a world deep within the ocean, where the clownfish swim with a sense of calm, security, and playfulness. In their natural habitat, the clownfish move effortlessly through the anemone, chasing each other in a dance of innocence and joy, undisturbed by the nightfall that quietly takes over the scene.

This painting invites the viewer to experience a mysterious world of transition—where light and darkness meet, and the creatures of the deep swim fearlessly through a landscape of shifting emotions. It explores the beauty of this twilight zone, where time slows, and the line between day and night blurs, much like the line between reality and the surreal.
