Deep Dive Emotions
The Deep Dive Emotions painting series by Lina Bormuth, which began in the autumn of 2023, explores the contrast between the harsh, industrial landscape of the Ruhr area and the artist’s deep longing for the serene and mysterious world of the sea. After moving to her new studio in Witten, Bormuth discovered a coral store nearby that instantly captivated her. In the midst of the dull, rainy Ruhr area, she found solace in the warm, salty sea air and the vibrant colors of the coral, offering her an escape from everyday life and a chance to dive into another world.
This series combines the loud, industrial aspects of the Ruhr area with the quiet allure of the ocean. It’s a journey between two worlds, with each brushstroke revealing its own emotional depth. The artist often wished she could be a clownfish, hiding in a dancing anemone, and this desire for freedom and connection with nature is palpable in every painting. This series is just the beginning—over the coming years, Lina Bormuth will add more works and integrate sculptures into her artistic expression. The Deep Dive Emotions series is a long-term project that will evolve over the next several years.
