ANGER – WHERE IS YOUR PAINT(H)ING?
Lina Bormuth’s paintings express an urgent, unavoidable emotion – the need to communicate feelings such as anger, frustration, and sorrow. Her art addresses contemporary grievances and the search for a means to express these emotions visually. Yet, her work also includes curiosity, love, and a sense of togetherness.

Bormuth’s paintings often combine traditional materials with unconventional elements like spray paint. “I’m also fascinated by the gritty, energetic side of the Ruhr area,” explains the artist. Her large-scale, provocative oil paintings are designed to challenge viewers and evoke emotional responses.

COURAGE – STIMULUS – VEHEMENCE
After training as a tattoo artist and studying illustration, Lina Bormuth found her own courageous path into professional painting. “It’s not so much about the medium, but about the expression,” says Bormuth. Her frequently figurative works are characterized by strong, at times drastic, expression. “I want to convey emotions, and that requires an energetic, sometimes even vehement approach,” she explains.

First Awards and Future Outlook
Lina Bormuth has already received significant recognition, including the 10th International Art Prize 2023 from the QQart Gallery in Hilden. Her works are marked by a balance of strength and sensitivity. “Perhaps my works will become more abstract in the future – but you never know,” she smiles. Visitors to her exhibitions will experience firsthand the surprising nature of her evolving art.
